Acquisition | Gift of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Leonard in memory of Mrs. Cornelius Leonard |
Ownership and History | Roses, pansies, fuchsia, and morning glory grace the royal-blue satin leaf of this fan, giving it a sweetly sentimental appearance. The sandalwood sticks would have had a gentle fragrance when the fan was new. It may have belonged to Mary A. Wood of Travis, Staten Island, who married Cornelius Leonard, Jr., in 1875. |
