Description Girl Scout uniform made of brown cotton twill fabric. A: Long-sleeve jacket with notched lapel, front button closure, and self-fabric belt; buttons have the Girl Scout trefoil design with eagle and shield. B: Long-sleeve pullover middy style shirt with lace-up opening in front and two breast pockets with trefoil buttons. Shirt has applied cloth patches and insignia. C: Calf-length skirt with gathered waist, two front pockets with buttoned flaps, and hook and eye closure. D: Knee-length bloomers, gathered at leg openings. It is possible that the various parts of this outfit were interchanged, and it might have been worn with a hat and/or neckerchief.

Acquisition Gift of Jack and June Cole Gilbert
Ownership and History According to the donor, June Cole Gilbert, this uniform was worn by her aunt, Winona Margaret Cole (1902-1979) of Staten Island. Winona, the daughter of Winona Margaret Barr and David Austen Cole, was married to Martin Walley in 1923. She lived in Mariners Harbor and worked as a stenographer at the National Lead Company.
