Description Woman's 1-piece party dress with short sleeves. Three layers of fabric: top layer is green chiffon; middle layer is gold metallic net with round gold beads; lining is ivory silk satin. Bodice has metal stays and has a back closure with metal clasps. Neckline is square in front and V-shaped in back. Bodice front has a triangular center panel of gold metallic net with beads and faux jewels; jeweled trim at shoulders and cuffs. Waist is defined by a green silk ribbon with 4 beaded medallions that have green plastic scarabs in the center. Long, straight skirt with released pintucks at waist. The green chiffon layer of the skirt is shortened front and back to reveal jeweled net underlayers; the sides are weighted with large beaded medallions with beaded fringe. The skirt is trimmed with bronze organza at the hem; the same fabric is also used as trim at the neck and cuffs. Interior waistband has embroidered label: "Redfern NEW YORK LONDON PARIS." Redfern was a British couture house with branches in Paris and America which operated from the 1880s through the 1920s. The design of this dress suggests Egyptian influences on styles of the early 20th century.
