This photograph and the accompanying label text were created as part of the Indelible Memories documentation project. The Staten Island Historical Society partnered with photographer Vinnie Amesse to record images and statements from more than fifty individuals profoundly affected by the events of September 11 and their aftermath. The exhibition, "Indelible Memories: September 11 Memorial Tattoos Photographed by Vinnie Amesse," was displayed at Historic Richmond Town in 2003. Exhibit Label Text | Clifford's tattoo, based on a well-known photograph, has the shape of flames encroaching along the lower edge. A new firefighter as of July 2001, he wanted to get this tattoo because "it's something that will be with me forever." |
